INTRODUCTION TO FUNDRAISING RESOURCES AT PRATTMonday January 8, 10am-Noon

Find out about the free treasure-trove of books, magazines, directories, and databases available at the Pratt. This session will introduce you to the Grants Collection, the Foundation Center’s information-packed web site and databases, and other fundraising information for nonprofits.
DATABASE DERBYMonday January 8, 1-3pm

Do you need hands-on practice using Foundation Directory Online, GrantsDirect, and other information databases? Would you like research guidance from an expert librarian? Or do you just need to "make a date" to investigate potential sponsors? If so, join us for 2 hours of open research time in the computer lab! Please bring your library card and PIN number, along with ideas of projects that your organization is trying to fund. We recommend, but do not require, that you attend either "Introduction to Fundraising Resources at Pratt" or "Grantseeking Basics" before coming to this session.

HOW TO START A NONPROFITThursday January 18, 10am-4pm

“Should I start a nonprofit organization? What are the advantages and disadvantages of organizing a nonprofit? Where do I start? What does ‘50©(3) and ‘Federal Tax Exemption’ mean? What steps do I need to take?” Presenter Chester France will provide answers to these questions and much more.

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL TAX EXEMPTIONTuesday January 30, 10am-4pm

This workshop will provide detailed steps in completing Form 1023 for the 501©(3) Federal Tax Exemption. Persons who attend this workshop should come with a plan to: 1) Identify board members; 2) File Articles of Incorporation; 3) Develop By-Laws and; 4) Conduct the Organizational Meeting.
It is recommended but not required that participants attend the How to Start a Nonprofit workshop.

BRANDING FOR YOUR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONFriday February 12, 10am-3pm

Presenter: David Miller, Chief Visionary Officer and Co-Founder of the Urban Leadership Institute
When people hear your organizations name what comes to mind? Does your organization have a brand?
What is branding and how can it help your organization? Marketing is one aspect of the branding process but what else does it take to create an organizations brand? Mr. Miller will answer these questions and many more in this workshop.

In this workshop we provide an introduction to the world of corporate support . Questions such as “How can I match my organization's needs with the interests of a corporation?” and “What non-monetary support will corporations provide to my organization?” will be answered. You will also learn about directories, web sites and other sources of information that you can access through the Pratt Library
PROPOSAL WRITINGMonday February 26, 6-8pm

The program is designed for new proposal writers representing nonprofit organizations. Participants will learn the key components of a proposal to a foundation or corporation, the process of applying for a grant, and the essentials of budget preparation as part of the grant proposal package. This course is intended to be a brief overview of the process of putting together and writing a proposal.
