I thought this was a wonderful project.  Thank you Chelsea for organizing it.  You know we could do this more than once a year.  Eight time a year might be a bit much, but it would be nice to adopt a family a few times a year.  I think helping others in need is at the heart of all faith including our own.  Thanks again Chelsea.

Yes, Carolyn was totally overwhelmed by everything.  As posted earlier, Desaun was very excited to be receiving a football.  I am sure that all the children will be very happy this holiday with their bounty.

No worries.  I think that it is important to help those less fortunate.  It is esp. important to me because I was once on the receiving end of this type of program.

I believe that the Adopt a family program is only run from Thanksgiven through the new year, but the MD food bank is always in need of donations and volunteers. 

There is a large food bank on Halethorpe Farms Road in Halethorpe, a short distance from where I live.  Spending a sunday or saturday afternoon to sort food there maybe an option.

On a related note, BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter) just off Charles Street behind the stadium, is always in need of people to help out there as well.  This maybe something good for Spring Equinox.

I used to help with a place called Elizabeth House in Laurel.   They serve meals every day in the evening. Different churches and faith communities pick a day or two that they will be responsible for.  They don't have to supply the food. They just prepare it.  Bag lunches are also prepared for the following day's lunch. It is a good program.

The CUUPS group, MoonFire, associated with the UU Church of Arlington prepares bagged lunches for a local soup kitchen to hand out once a month.  They do PB&J as well as lunch meats, with a bottle of water and a piece of fruit.  I believe that the congregation supplies the food and the CUUPS groups just prepares and delivers.

actually, Chirona used to organize some pagan group in the DC area to do Sandwiches for Samhuinn each year.  Everyone involved would donate something for the bagged lunches, they would be prepared and then passed out on the streets to homeless persons. 

Unsure if they are still doing it.

I received the attached letter from Baltimore County. I will give the original to Caryn or Crystal for grove records.  Unless Jack has a place for grove records, Jack is scribe, right?
