Invocation Writing workshop
« on: September 25, 2007, 04:55:36 AM »
Sunday, 10/21/07

Bring a notebook or other paper to write on, something to write with, have a deity or kindred in mind for which you'd like to write one for the purpose of the workshop (This can be for later ritual use, or just for the sake of practice) and if you want, other invocations that you've written in the past or are currently working on.

We will start out with briefly discussing the purpose of an invocation, when invocation might or might not be used, and what makes them effective (or not)

Next, if anyone is interested in sharing any of their previously-written or in-progress invocations for discussion, we will do that.

Finally, using what we discuss, each participant will write- or at least begin to write- an invocation to the deity of their choice. As I said before, this can be for actual use, or just for the sake of practice.

So, there you are, Mark your calenders and show up ready to write!

October 21st I believe is when the In-Person Witan meeting is happening at the Grove, which promises to be a lengthy one.

I will verify at tonights Witan meeting.

Did you schedule this with the Witan?

Yeah, Caryn got out the calendar and we looked at it.

I'd say the one at the Grove is not as up-to-date as the one online.  I'll be sure to mention it to her.

Yeah, it was...kinda empty.

Well, scratch that date I guess then.

Well don't scratch it yet ;)  I'd at least wait for the meeting.  Thought it looks like nothing is planned the weekend before that, if you're interested in that instead.

We'll figure it out ;)

There's a possibility Ill be in Delaware for that weekend. If not, it would be great.

Nothing's 100% yet, but it is looking more and more like I won't be going to DE for the weekend of the 14th after all.

Correction, I will NOT be in Delaware that weekend...i had the dates mixed up and it looks like I'll be missing the event I was planning to attend.

So...if you want to schedule this workshop for the weekend of the 14th, I'll be around.

The 14th would work better for me, as well.  I'm new enough to the Grove not to understand when this will happen (once the actual day/date is decided):  is it at 2 p.m.?  Until...?

Well, if it happens on Sunday the 14th, it would be after rites of caffeina, from 1pm-ish til probably 4pm-ish.

And just so you know, usually when we're talking about workshops, unless otherwise specified, it's probably going to be on a Sunday after ROC. We have specifically themed meetings on Thurday nights, and sometimes we migt be talking in reference to one of those, but we usually refer to them by their subject matter- healers, warriors, dedicants, movie night etc.

Hope that clarifies things just a bit

Okay, seriously...when would we like to do this?

I'm available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I'd be interested, but it'd have to be a Sunday.  If the majority can't do that day, I'd be more than happy to sit out :)
