Updated March 24, 2010. Recently added in bold.
Feel free to drop these off anytime. I will update this list periodically under a new post and delete the old one. If you can think of anything to add, just add it to the washboard by the kitchen.
And remember to write down donations and approximate cost and stick into the Dagda's Cauldron A) so that we can track it and B) so that you can get a receipt for a tax write off.
-
JoAnn's is having a massive sale this weekend, including on photo albums. If I can get up there, I'm going to grab us one. ::)
-
For heavy duty indoor chairs . . . I have a book somewhere on using 2X4's to make simple but nice furniture. Maybe we could see if something in there could do? And the Gods know I can sew cushions . . . ::)
-
I have a box of Ten wooden picture frames that I can give to the grove.
I also have a couple of Pallets. Would that work for the crawl space under the building?
-
-A large pan for scrambled eggs that is not a freakin bear to clean every doggone time. ::) Of course we could make it mandatory that who ever cooks the eggs has to clean the pan <grin>
-The rainbarrel to be set up. It doesn't make much sense to have one if we are not even going to install it. -And it sends the message to the person who donated it that the donation was worthless.
-a porch swing---now why would I say that?-- Because last year a lady donated a nice stand for a swing but we don't have a swing to put in it. Might be a nice addition to the back yard if we could get it set up.
I brought 2 large frying pans (very good condition, almost new). Did you see those or do we need some in addition to those?
The rain barrel is a little more complicated than just setting it in the corner. When Will and I looked at it, the down spout needs to be taken apart at the upper joint ( WD40 will be needed) and then the attachment for the barrel will need to be drilled and screws or wire needed to attach it to the down spout.
I will get it taken care of however, tomorrow and the next two weekends are full. The end of december if the weather cooperates.
The swing. **sigh** I Promised to buy one and when I was able to, the one on clearance was gone. I am keeping my eyes open for another.
-
Next time I go to IKEA, I'll get one of the magnetic strips I use to hold my knives. Really convenient, and it holds about a dozen of them, and we could mount it up high enough to out of the way of kids, but accessible to the adults.
Would the ceiling in the kitchen back in the corner by the oven support a pot rack? I can shop for those as well.
-
Does the grove want a scrapbook for High rite pictures and writeups? I have an extra one that I would donate.
I also would not mind having a crafts night for us to assemble it. of course, we would just need some printed pictures. ::)
-
Yes ma'am, we could sure use one. Someone kept offering to bring one and never did
-
Some things I thought of recently that would be -very- useful for the Grove:
- Swiffer Duster for things like the radiators where we can't easily get to
- Laundry basket (preferably not plastic, but a nice natural material) with a lid for all of our dirty towels, rags, table clothes, etc. Doesn't get used much for a big one, but the big plastic bin in the supply room is often over-looked.
- Battery station AND some batteries of all kinds. This is the one I have at my house (http://www.amazon.com/Range-Kleen-66-Battery-Organizer-Removable/dp/B000FNR726/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1269264439&sr=8-1), and it comes with a tester on the top. Very useful for battery storage.
- More shelving for the ritual supply room and the library.
I will add these to the main list as well.
-
So, would you like the same type of battery station then? Did you want recharable batteries or regular?
-
If we can get some chargers, or a different station that actually charges batteries, then that would be more economical and environmentally friendly.
But I have not priced such a thing yet.
-
I can donate a laundry basket. I have four....literally...it was useful to have that many in college but I'm sure I can live without one. :) They're the wire and cloth ones that can fold down real small when not in use.
-
Another want for the Grove with all the workshops happening these days:
- Media (and preferably easily removable to move around if needs be) screen for presentations:
http://www.amazon.com/70INX70IN-Versatol-Tri-pod-Screen-Keystone/dp/B00028DAKW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1269432326&sr=8-2
- Corner media cabinet (something like this: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/22/4/AAAAAlrluk4AAAAAACJLsw.jpg that would hide all the wires and tv and stereo). We have two televisions and I plan to get rid of one because in the 8 years I've been at the Grove we have never needed to use two. But I also don't like having it taking up space in the closet or tossed around in the parsonage. A cabinet like this would allow it to stay out of the way but usable.
If we can get either of these off freecycle or craiglist for cheap, bonus :)
-
Bumping this list, added the laundry baskets for the children's toys, instruments etc.
-
We are down to our last 2 rolls of TP (the world's most vital commodity) if some folks would like to pick up a package or 2.
Thanks
-
But that is what our left hand is for!
Sorry, I'm in a weird place.
-
Only in India m'dear and my uncle had some rough times there...he's left handed.
-
:o
-
We are also getting low on incense. The best selection and prices I have found anywhere are here:
http://intenseincense.com/index.php (http://intenseincense.com/index.php)
Just in case you are thinking of donating some...ya know?
-
Sandlewood, Dragons Blood, Opium, and Orange Blossom on their way. Will ship between 16th and 19th.
-
What sort of scents would people like? Better still, are there any people are allergic to or cannot stand to avoid?
-
I head can't handle the big ones we were using for keeping mosquito's away. Gave me horrible headache. That's about the only one in my case.
-
I'm bringing down some $1 off coupons for pagan fire sticks (bic brand) if anyone wants to use them to grab some extra's for the Grove or for yourself :)
-
What do you guys think about one of these for the Ancestor's stone outside?!?
http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/gear/e557
-
no
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That is amazing!
-
ROFLMAO!!!!! I think that's great!
-
Its PREFECT!!!!
-
Are you all serious or was it a joke or am I missing something?
-
Yes...it is a joke.
-
It would be fun to see visitors reactions when they come out though! ;D
-
ha ha, if we ever do a "halloween party" this would be hilarious :)
-
So, I was researching what type of pagan shops or groups they might have in Edinburgh just now and I found this awesome looking shop on the Royal Mile that carries this BADASS! statue! I think it would look fabulous in the grove:

-
that's beautiful, wonder what that price is in American money
-
That IS beautiful. I'd guess about $150?
They have alot of very nice pagan shops over there. If you are ever down into Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, they have a shop called the Rowan Tree. Really nice.
-
On a more serious note. We really need something on the windows in the front room be it blinds or curtains or some combo of the two. The heat coming in is intense when the sun is shinning and we've gone from looking like a frat house to looking like a crack house.
We gotta do something.
-
How do you mean a "crack house"?
-
No curtains, lol.
-
And a doorbell too. I was in the kitchen trying to clean out the well from the ancestors altar, rocks, container and all (since we've had a new pump sitting there for months) and I totally didn't hear the couple who were knocking at the door so they were out there for probably 20 minutes before someone else showed up.
Yes crack houses don't have curtains or if they do they are bed sheets.
-
What kind of curtains did you have in mind?
-
I don't.
Bennu and I were talking about it this weekend. We were talking about white inner curtains with something else on the outside. Almost everything I've looked at didn't do anything for me but I thought there were some folks who were planning some trips to go look for and buy curtains, I could be wrong.
I don't know but I imagine that we want light to come in but to reflect the heat out. Past experience has shown that the shorter curtains work better than the floor length because people lean back in chairs and pull the curtains down (not meaning to).
That's just some of my thoughts, nothing cast in stone.
-
You could also put up some blinds to start with , not the metal kind or wood kind, but the fabric kind that fold up when you pull them up. This would help with heat coming in to some extent.
With the colors in the room, I too have a problem with the color of the scarf. I'd have to look at a palet of colors that go with beige and brown. Gold comes to mind, or burnt sienna or the like, but off the top of my head, I'm not good at chosing colors. Have to see them.
-
We need rubberbands for the office
We need paper lunch bags or "doggie bags" after ROC and Revels
We need grass seed
We need liquid handsoap for the parsonage bathroom, probably a container for the main bathroom too.
-
On the liquid hand soap, I believe there are still some large refill bottles around the grove (kitchen or bathroom)
We also need some zip lock bags to take home moist foods. **There's just no need to put them in the fridge as they probably won't be any good in a week.**
We also need some dish washing soap. We have about 1/3 bottle in one of the kitchens.
-
I have the liquid hand soap for the grove. Crystal gave it to me to get it to the grove and I keep forgetting to get it out of the car. It will be there this weekend.
-
I have a ton of baggies since I buy in bulk at BJs. What size do you need?
-
Generally the quart size zip-locks work well. I realize they aren't as good for the environment but they can be washed and reused. I do it here a lot. We just have no good way to send home "wet food".
-
Do you guys ever need plastic grocery bags at the Grove for anything? I'm primarily getting groceries from Peapod now, and the only downside is that the stuff comes in plastic bags instead of reusables. I've been looking for ways to reuse and we've also been taking them back up to Giant to recycle.
I'm planning to come up on the 27th, finally, so I can bring some then if y'all want 'em. Would have dropped in yesterday, but we didn't get home from coven moon ritual until 2am because we had to take home a friend in Frederick.

-
Need male connector for main hose and the other hose is in bad shape.
-
Bird seed and torch oil.
-
Mulch! I need more mulch so I can weed and get the front bed together.
I'd like top soil and stones/something to delineate the beds from the lawn.
-
We need 2 of the wash basin tubs that we wash dished in. 1 was left on the stove in the Grove Space and the heat from the pilot light cause the plastic to turn brown and hard and it fell out when touched. The one in the parsonage has the side handles falling off.
-
Anyone know offhand if we have any current urgent needs?
-
I am sure there are some but I can't think of them right at the moment.
-
We need a parliament of baby owls.
I think we are out of antibiotic ointment, can always use more birdseed, more pagan fire sticks (you know, working ones), firewood (untreated), and probably coffee. That's off the top of my head though; haven't checked in about two weeks.
-
Yes, I agree with Ashley. We need an owlery.
-
Some of the environmentally friendly fire starter logs.
-
Gel Fuel for the fire pots, a new vacuum, more incense and more sand for the incense burners, more sage and lavendar and rosemary and ...
-
Currently bidding on a Diason Ball on QuiBids. Will see. First time trying that.
-
Didn't get it. Sorry. Almost had it for just $10.
-
aw, damn, that would've been cool
-
Yah, I know. Oh well. Reason for everything.
-
Currently bidding on a Diason Ball on QuiBids. Will see. First time trying that.
Its OK, Duncan took the old one apart and removed the clogs and it works just like new again.
-
and that would be why I didnt get the vacuum I was bidding on.
