Workshop: The Tree Ogham

Friday, May 21st, 2010

This workshop will give a brief synopsis of the Celtic alphabet called the Ogham and the multiple examples of alliteration used by the Celts to remember the alphabet. It will also provide a more extensive overview of one of these alliterations, the Tree Ogham. The workshop will work it’s way through the individual trees and include the way they look, their medicinal properties and what they were traditionally used for. We will also compare and contrast the traditional divinatory meaning to the actual properties.

This workshop will be a precursor to a series of workshops at CedarLight Grove on the latest theories and divinatory techniques in the book Ogam: Weaving Word Wisdom by Erynn Rowan Laurie. The class participants will be given the opportunity sign up for the extended class at the end of this workshop. We hope to meet at least once a month to discuss our progress and work on learning this divination technique.

Date: June 6th at 1pm (All are welcome to join us for a pot-luck brunch and meditation earlier at 10am)
Time: Approx 2.5 Hrs
Cost: (raised) $20 if you already own the book, otherwise $20 additional for the book as well
RSVP: Please RSVP by emailing us at witan@cedarlightgrove.org by June 1st

Workshop: Reiki II Intensive

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Part two of our Reiki series taught by Reverend Caryn MacLuan.

In this class we will explore the next step in energy work called Reiki. I would ask my prospective students to first ponder whether or not they are ready for the Reiki II attunement. Reiki II is an increase in power, it clears more than the Reiki I attunement did especially in the area of emotional healing and some of us keep an awful lot stashed away in that closet. The Reiki II class requires that the student has already received the Reiki I attunement and has a certificate to prove it. The major areas we will cover in this class are the Reiki symbols, their meanings and their uses. We will also work on some of the Japanese Reiki techniques. The Reiki II attunement will be given and each student will receive a Reiki II certificate.

Note: If you have not read the Reiki II section of your workbook, please do so before class and save us more time for hands on practice.

Date: July 18th at 1pm (All are welcome to join us for a pot-luck brunch and meditation earlier at 10am)
Time: Approximately 4 hours
Cost: $70
Book: We will use the book Reiki: The Healing Touch First & Second Degree Manual by William Lee Rand
RSVP: Please RSVP by emailing us at witan@cedarlightgrove.org by July 12th

–Some extra copies will be available to purchase for $20 if you were not in the Reiki I class where they were provided however I encourage new students to purchase the book and read through it before the class. It can be purchased at: http://www.reikiwebstore.com/ProductPage.cfm?ProductID=52&CategoryID=2

Swap Party!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Join CedarLight Grove in a Swap Party! A Swap Party is a new green initiative like the former Tupperware party days of old. Bring items in good condition and swap them with items other people have brought for swapping.

Each participant can join in the Swap Party for free. We would love to have donations to the Grove, but it is not necessary. If you wish to join us for our pot-luck brunch before-hand, please bring a dish to share. Bring your used but in good condition items to CedarLight Center. We will create a list of items you have donated and set them up for display. People will be given opportunity to browse your items during our Rites of Caffiena brunch and the Swap will officially begin at 1pm

Anything not taken home will be sold at a yard sale and then donated to Goodwill.

Date: May 23rd starting at 1pm, but you are welcome to come earlier for our Rites of Caffiena potluck brunch (please bring a dish to share if you join us for brunch, it can be anything from a few blocks of cheese, some crackers, bagels, etc.)
